2026 Municipal Election
The next Municipal Election will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026. The current term of Council began November 15, 2022 and will conclude on November 14, 2026.
Municipal and School Board Elections are held every four years on the fourth Monday of October. The Township of Laurentian Valley Council consists of seven members, one Mayor, one Reeve and Five Councillors.
If you are a resident, owner or tenant of property in the Township of Laurentian Valley, a Canadian citizen and at least18 years of age you can vote and run for office.

Voter List and School Support
It is the voter’s responsibility to ensure their name is on the voters list and that their information is up to date. You can visit Elections Ontario to update your information for provincial, municipal, and school board elections in Ontario. Find out more about confirming and updating your information before the next municipal election in 2026 at Elections Ontario’s Voter Registration service.
As of January 1, 2024, MPAC is no longer responsible for collecting voter information for local elections. MPAC remains responsible for collecting information about school support. To update your school support information, visit MPAC’s Online School Support Tool by June 1, 2026 to ensure it is up to date before the 2026 Municipal and School Board Elections.

The Clerk shall examine all filed nomination forms prior to 4:00 pm and if satisfied, certify the nominations. By 4:00 pm the Clerk is to declare candidate(s) elected by acclamation, if any.

Candidate Registration In order to register to become a candidate for Mayor, Reeve, Councillor or School Board Trustee in the upcoming election, you must be:
Candidates are also required to pay a fee as follows:
Endorsement requirement Candidates running for municipal council in the Township of Laurentian Valley, candidate must submit 25 original signatures endorsing your nomination. You do not have to submit endorsement signatures if you are running for school trustee. Candidates must use Form 2 included in the Municipal Council Nomination Package to collect the endorsement signatures. Anyone providing an endorsement signature must also fill in their name and address, including the postal code. Anyone providing an endorsement signature must be eligible to vote in the Township of Laurentian Valley on the day that they signed the endorsement. In addition to their endorsement, they will also be required to sign a declaration that they are eligible to vote in the Township of Laurentian Valley.
Nomination Period Individuals intending to run for the office of Mayor, Reeve, Councillor, or School Board Trustee may file nomination papers starting May 1, 2026. The final day to file nomination papers is August 21, 2026 by 2:00 p.m. The filing period for the 2026 Municipal and School Board Election nominations opens May 1, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. and closes August 21, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Nominations must be filed in person at the office of the Clerk located at the Township of Laurentian Valley Municipal Office, 460 Witt Road, Pembroke , Ontario. Electronic submissions will not be accepted.
Appointments for nominations are required. To schedule an appointment, call 613-735-6291. Appointments are approximately 30 minutes.
