Casual Winter Equipment Operator

2 Positions Available – November 2025 to April 2026

 

The Township of Laurentian Valley requires two Casual Winter Equipment Operators whos’ main responsibility will be for snow clearing of Township Roads. The Casual Operator will also assist with other tasks including equipment maintenance, road patching and other road-related duties. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Casual Operator provides support to the Township’s Public Works & Property Department with safety as a priority. For the successful candidates, there is potential for further term employment opportunities with the municipality.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Valid DZ driver’s license (minimum) in good standing.
  • Must have completed O.S.S.D. (Grade 12) or CAEC.
  • Must have experience in operation of tandem trucks, backhoe, loader and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Operation of tandem snowplow and snow removal equipment is considered an asset.
  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Must be available for on call and ability to work flexible hours.

 

Compensation: (2025 rate): $27.97/hr (minimum 16 hrs/wk, no benefits)

 Equipment Operator

1 Permanent Full-Time Position Available

 

 

The Township of Laurentian Valley requires an Equipment Operator whos’ main responsibility is to maintain the Township’s infrastructure through the performance of a variety of labour type jobs, including but not limited to, snow clearing, maintenance of equipment, roads, linear assets, buildings and grounds. Reporting to the Operations Supervisor, the Equipment Operator provides support to the Township’s Public Works & Property Department with safety as a priority.

 

Position Qualifications:

  • Valid DZ driver’s license (minimum) in good standing with an AZ License being desirable.
  • Must have completed O.S.S.D. (Grade 12) or CAEC.
  • Must have experience in operation of tandem trucks, backhoe, loader and other miscellaneous equipment.
  • Operation of tandem snowplow and snow removal equipment is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a municipal field would be considered an asset.
  • Must possess knowledge and understanding of the Occupational Health & Safety Act.
  • Must be available for on call and ability to work flexible hours.
  • Water License Level 1 and Sewer License Level 1 from OWWCO is considered an asset.
  • Computer skills, mechanical knowledge, and the ability to demonstrate good judgment and initiative are beneficial.

 

Compensation: (2025 rate): $58,162.90 - $67,730.87 (40 hours per week, with OMERS and benefit package).
