Open for the 2024 season!

The LV Four Seasons Trail is a granular surfaced trail through a wooded, forested area that is 1.5 km in length. In the winter months, the trail is transformed into a beautiful natural ice surface. There is no fee to walk or skate on the trail during operating hours however donations are welcome as the trail was created and is maintained by a devoted group of volunteers. Donations we receive help ensure we can continue to grow and properly maintain this magical trail. There are also several km’s of snowshoes trails on the property and two different routes to choose from. The snowshoe trails can also be used for hiking in the summer months.

Skating & snowshoe trail hours of operation:

The trail typically opens in January and closes in March, weather depending. When the trail is open, the hours typically are 10:00 am to 4:00 pm daily. When night skates are scheduled, the trail is open that evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm. These hours allow time for the volunteers to maintain the ice, keeping it in great condition.

2024 daytime skates:

  • Daily: 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Saturday: 10:00 am to 3:00 pm

Being a natural ice surface that can be affected by the fluctuation of weather, operating hours can vary. Typically, the trail opens in January and closes in March. Please refer to our Facebook Page for updates regarding hours of operation and special events.

Night skates:

Lamp Posts and string lights illuminate the Skating Trail during night skating events and has become very popular drawing over 1,000 skaters per event! Night Skates are scheduled every Thursday and Saturday nights for the skating season.

 History

2017

Council approved the creation of a Skating Trail through a scenic wooded area adjacent to the Alice & Fraser Recreation Centre.

2018
A snowshoe trail was established alongside the main trail and is approximately 2km in length

Through a partnership between the Township, Canadian Nuclear Laboratories and Eastway Contracting, substantial improvements were made to the trail base. The base improvements created a packed granular surface for walking and a more level surface for ice making.

2020

The former Timberline Clubhouse is rebranded as the LV Lodge and will be run by the trail volunteers

2021

The LV Skating Trail is renamed to the LV Four Seasons Trail and is fully run and maintained by a dedicated Volunteer Group.

An annual Spooky Halloween Walk was created by the Volunteer Group. The event runs the last two weekends of October.

Lighting is added to the trail thanks to grant funding received from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program: COVID-19 Resilience Stream.

2023
