Live Training Exercise for Township of Laurentian Valley Emergency Services and Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL) on October 9, 2019
Laurentian Valley, ON: In partnership with Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL), the Township of Laurentian Valley, the Laurentian Valley and Petawawa Fire Departments, the County of Renfrew Paramedic Service, Upper Ottawa Valley OPP, Renfrew County and District Health Unit, and Renfrew County Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES), Community Care Access Centre (CCAC), CANUTEC and Ministry of Transportation (MTO), will be conducting a real-time, joint emergency response training exercise in Laurentian Valley, Ontario on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, in the vicinity of the Alice & Fraser Recreation Centre.
Emergencies require well-coordinated and efficient response. Event simulation is an effective way to practice essential skills and communications procedures. "Annual exercises help test the Township’s Emergency Plan and train staff on responding to different types of emergency situations. The opportunity to participate in a live exercise also provides an extra opportunity to engage the Municipal Control Group along with the Volunteer Fire Department," says Lauree Armstrong, Community Emergency Management Coordinator for the Township of Laurentian Valley. "We are pleased to have the opportunity to train and learn with CNL and many other community partners."
The area will be clearly marked and the training exercise is taking place in an area of the Township with low vehicle traffic; however, as always, residents are asked to exercise caution when in the vicinity of emergency vehicles and crews.
