STREET LIGHT UPDATE: On January 22nd, 2026, the new traffic lights at the intersection of Drive in Road and Highway 148 officially became operational.
The lights have been installed by MTO at their cost after LV Township requested that the temporary lights be installed prior to reconstruction to ensure immediate impact for improved traffic flow, creating a much safer environment at this busy intersection.
As many residents may have noticed, the traffic lights do not appear to be permanently fixated. That is because the lights are temporary, due to the construction of Highway 148.
Over the coming years, reconstruction of Highway 148 (Pembroke St East) will be undertaken from Agnes Campbell to the Quebec Turnoff which will include the installation of water and sewar and other services along this same stretch of roadway, ending at Drive in Road.
When these works are completed, a new and permanent light fixture will be installed to meet municipal and provincial standards.
However, for the duration of the project, the temporary streetlight system will be in place to provide much needed traffic control until the project is completed, at which point the new and permanent streetlight system will be installed.
We would like to take this moment to thank the public for their patience while we negotiated the installation of these temporary lights.
We would also like to thank the province of Ontario and the Ministry of transportation for their continued partnership alongside the County of Renfrew during this project as we look towards a future with an improved highway system and updated municipal infrastructure here in Laurentian Valley!
