The Township of Laurentian Valley wants to hear from you about Short Term Accommodation (STA), also known as Airbnb, VRBO, short term rentals. Residents and Property Owners are encouraged to complete our Short Term Accommodation Survey. The deadline to complete the survey is September 18, 2023. All individual survey responses will be kept confidential.
The survey will allow staff to gather valuable information which will be used to review how short term accommodation operate in our community. The responses will be analyzed and a “This is What We Heard” report will be provided to Council along with options for the regulation of short term accommodation in Laurentian Valley.
Short term rentals are property rentals of less than a month (28 days) in duration. This would include renting a private room in a home, an entire home, a seasonal property (cottage), or any other space for 28 days or less.
Short term rentals do not include established accommodation types such as a traditional bed and breakfast, hotels, motels, and recreational trailer parks or campgrounds.
A draft Regulation By-law has also been developed for public comment as well. Should anyone be interested on commenting on the draft by-law, a separate survey has been prepared. You can review the draft regulation by law here.
