  • NOTICE OF NIGHT WORK: HIGHWAY 148

    To Whom It May Concern, Thomas Cavanagh Construction Ltd. (TCCL) has been contracted by the Ministry of Transportation to complete the rehabilitation of Highway 148 from 300 m west of Angus Campbell Drive to 350 m east of the Greenwood Road intersection, as well as Greenwood Road from the Highway 148 intersection southerly for approximately 1.18 km.

    To facilitate the removal and replacement of a prefabricated box culvert, TCCL will be conducting continuous 24-hour construction operations for a period of five (5) days at the intersection of Greenwood Road and Highway 148 commencing Sunday, July 12, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.

    During this period, traffic will be reduced to a single lane of traffic under continuous flagging operations.

    We recognize that overnight construction activities may cause inconvenience to nearby residents, businesses, and motorists. We sincerely apologize for any disruption this work may create and appreciate your patience, cooperation, and understanding as we complete these important infrastructure improvements.     2026 Spring Load Restrictions

    Pursuant to Section 122 of the Highway Traffic Act and applicable Municipal By-Laws, reduced load limits on roads throughout the Township of Laurentian Valley will be in effect commencing March 9, 2026, and extending until May 31, 2026.

    Vehicle loads will be restricted to 5 tonnes per axle on those roads where signs have been erected.

    Laurentian Valley residents will have expanded recycling options starting January 1, 2026 as part of Ontario's Enhanced Recycling System. 

    At this time there will be no changes to your collection schedule.

    PROPOSED SANITARY PUMPING STATION ON HIGHWAY 148 (intersection of Drive In Road and Pembroke Street East) – DCR Addendum Filing – comments received until October 25, 2025

    The Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Parsons Inc. have completed the Design and Construction Report (DCR) Addendum for the Detail Design and Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Study, which includes the addition of a new sanitary pumping station at 127 Drive-In Road.

    2025 Draft Budget

    The Township of Laurentian Valley has officially undertaken its second sitting of the 2025 budget deliberations and would like to communicate with the public the draft budget which will now be open for comments, with a final public meeting on Tuesday December 3rd.

    Like many other municipalities in Ontario, we have experienced large increases in the cost of doing business and operations in general.
