Community Lead Program
The Township of Laurentian Valley is currently planning the local component of the Community Lead Testing Program, as required under Ontario Regulation 399/07. As part of this program, the Township is seeking residential properties where drinking water samples can be collected and tested for lead. The sampling process takes approximately one hour. A member of the Municipal Works staff will visit your home and collect a water sample directly from your kitchen faucet.
The Township is particularly interested in sampling homes that fall within the following priority areas:
- First Priority: Homes that may be serviced by lead service pipes, which are most commonly found in older homes constructed prior to the mid-1950s.
- Second Priority: Homes constructed between 1960 and 1989, where lead may be present in plumbing fixtures or in the solder used to connect copper piping.
If you believe your home falls within either of these categories, the Township would appreciate the opportunity to collect a water sample for lead testing. Your participation will help the Township better understand local drinking water conditions and identify potential sources of lead.
If you are interested in having your drinking water tested for lead or would like additional information about lead in drinking water and the sampling program, please contact Brad Faught at 613-735-6291.
Thank you for your cooperation and participation in this important community water quality program.
