Shady Nook Recreation Centre | Township of Laurentian Valley

Shady Nook Recreation Centre offers just about 7 acres of park area packed with recreation opportunities. It is conveniently accessed just off Highway 41 with ample parking. It is home to youth soccer and hockey clubs as well as Township's largest main floor gathering facility for organized events and private functions. The Shady Nook Recreation Committee welcomes volunteers who would like to help with events and future development.

One of our Community Gardens site is located here as well.

Kitchen facilities:
- Kitchen Use
  - Cooking (oven use) Food preparation (ie. use of kitchen area for sandwich preparation, etc.) - $100.00 for 4 hours ($20.00 every additional hour)
  - No charge for either storage of food (refrigeration) of foods prepared at home, or use of coffee percolator's.
  - Arrangements for hall rentals can be made with the Hall Convenor by calling the Community Centre at 613-732-0954.
  - The hall is licensed by the LLBO and has a capacity of 225 persons.
  - For events with a bar, alcohol will not be served after 1:00 am.
  - Tablecloths are not required but are the responsibility of the Lessee should they wish to have the tables covered.
  - Raffling of alcoholic beverages and gambling is not permitted.

Ice Surface Rental:
- Ice Rental
  - Shady Nook offers a maintained outdoor regulation size rink (85' x 200') with natural ice surface. The rink is illuminated for night use.
  - Ice rentals are $75.00 + HST per hour daytime and $200 + HST per hour evening and include hockey nets (if needed) and a resurfacing of the ice. Use of the indoor dressing rooms is at an additional cost of $50 +HST. Discounts are available for tournaments.
  - Free use of the rink is permitted unless otherwise booked or closed for maintenance.
  - The outdoor rink has a concrete surface and is available for use in the summer for rollerblading, ball hockey, etc.
