LV Skating Trail

Skating Trail

The Township of Laurentian Valley has created a Skating Trail through a scenic wooded area on the Alice & Fraser Recreation Centre. Located beside the Alice and Fraser Recreation Centre at 2 Henan Road, the natural ice trail is over 1.5km long.

*** There is also a Snowshoeing Trail alongside the Skating Trail. ***

As the weather keeps fluctuating, operating hours will vary daily. Please refer to our booking tool or Facebook Page for updates.

Due to COVID restrictions, visitors are required to book their 1-hour timeslot Monday to Friday for both the Skating and Snowshoe Trails. There is a maximum attendance of 25 visitors on each trail at a given time. We ask that you respect your allotted timeslot and respect the COVID guidelines and restrictions. If you are no longer able to attend, please cancel your booking. Instructions on how to cancel will be indicated via your booking confirmation email.

Daily updates on the Skating and Snowshoe Trails regarding open and closures are posted on our Township Facebook Page. Please note that the trails are subject to closures depending on weather conditions. Updates will be provided on our Facebook Page and a cancellation email will be sent to those that have registered for their allotted time.

Operating Procedures for 2021

  • The Skating and Snowshoe Trails are open daily from 10am - 4pm. This allows volunteers to maintain the ice in order to provide good skating conditions.
  • Monday to Friday: Max capacity is 25 people on each trail at one time. Visitors will be required to register for a 1-hour allotted time. Please pre-register online.
  • Saturday + Sunday: Max capacity is 100 people on each trail at one time. Volunteers will be on site monitoring the number of visitors. No registration will be required - visitors will be counted on a first come basis.
  • There are outbound and inbound skating lanes to allow for proper physical distancing. Items will not be permitted to be left at the trailhead and will need to be brought with you. We recommend bringing a backpack.
  • Please assess yourself for any COVID like symptoms prior to visiting the trail. Should you have any symptoms, do not enter the trails.
  • Masks are not mandatory but are highly recommended, especially at the trailhead.
  • Skating aids will not be available for use this year.
  • Strollers are allowed on the ice. No pets permitted on the trail. We appreciate your cooperation in advance!

Please note: The Skating and Snowshoe Trails are volunteer led and maintained trails. There is a donation box located on site and any and all contributions help to enhance the trail and maintain it annually. Thank you for your support!

Thank you for all your cooperation this year! We look forward to a wonderful skating season!

It is hard to believe that such a beautiful trail is at our door. I can only congratulate the workers and the volunteers for a perfect day. The ice was perfect, the snowshoe trail also, everything was beautiful, and the sun, just like in a movie. Thank you!
