Petawawa, ON – The Town of Petawawa, City of Pembroke, Township of Laurentian Valley, and Renfrew County Community Futures Development Corporation (RCCFDC) are pleased to announce they will be hosting the second series of business workshops under the Service Concierge banner.
Workshops will take place virtually every Wednesday in March from 7-8 p.m. and will be focused on business financials. Workshops are being offered for $10 plus HST per session and include participation in one workshop, a package of information, and swag from the municipal hosts including a treat from a local business that will be delivered the day of the workshop by ValleyEats to your home or business.
The five workshops being offered are as follows:
Wednesday, March 3: Grant Writing
This session will feature a video by RCCFDC on important grant writing tips and provide attendees with a handout and information on key things businesses need to have ready in order to be prepared when grants become available. Panelists who will be doing a Q&A as part of the session are: Mike Barber, County of Renfrew; Kelley Lemenchick, RCCFDC; Heather Salovaara, City of Pembroke; and Katie Tollis, Township of Laurentian Valley.
Wednesday, March 10: Building a Business with Fields of Green Consulting
Join Bailey and Maegan of Fields of Green Consulting as they discuss the first steps in setting up a successful business. From business registration, banking and POS systems, tax implications of a personal business versus a corporation, HST remittances, payroll (and how to pay yourself), inventory, gift cards, cash counts and a few other hot topics!
Wednesday, March 17: Understanding Cash Flows with RCCFDC
Join Mike Thompson, Business Development Officer with RCCFDC for an informative session. Mike works closely with businesses of all sizes who receive financing from
RCCFDC. Take stronger financial control in your business with this crash course on how your cash flow impacts your business.
Wednesday, March 24: Question and Answer Session with Fields of Green Consulting
Bailey and Maegan are here to answer your questions! In this session, you will have the opportunity to pre-submit questions and engage in a live Q+A. Bailey and Maegan are both CPAs with a wealth of knowledge working with small businesses. Their mission is to support local businesses and individuals navigate the dynamic financial landscape and help them cultivate success over time.
Wednesday, March 31: Common Financial Pitfalls with RCCFDC
George Gilfillan will be delivering this course based on his years of experience. George is a business support coach with RCCFDC, and will be discussing some of the most common mistakes that business owners make and how to avoid them.
Participants must register and pay the workshop fee in advance. Workshop fees are $10 plus HST and any applicable online processing charges. Space in the virtual workshops are limited so register early to secure your spot. If you wish to participate in all five workshops you will have to register for each individually, selecting the workshop location and time that best suits your schedule. Tickets are refundable until seven days prior to the event. Workshops will be delivered over Zoom.
