The Township of Laurentian Valley advises everyone to follow the advice of our
Renfrew County and District Health Unit, Public Health Ontario and Public
Health Agency of Canada:

Stay Home, and Keep Everyone Safe
You need to self-isolate for 14 days even if you do not have symptoms if:
• You have traveled anywhere outside of Canada (including the United States of America).
• You live with, provided care for, or spent extensive time with someone who has:
o tested positive for COVID-19 OR
o is suspected to have COVID-19, OR
o who has respiratory symptoms (fever, cough, or shortness of breath) that started
within 14 days of travel outside of Canada.
• Renfrew County and District residents returning from Italy, Iran, or Hubei province (China)
must contact Renfrew County and District Health Unit at 613-735-8654 within 24 hours of
arriving in Canada and provide your contact information.
• When self-isolating:
o Do not go out for groceries and visits. Make arrangements for groceries and
necessities to be dropped off to you.
o Stay in a separate room away from other people in your home as much as possible
and use a separate bathroom if you have one.
o Make sure that shared rooms have good airflow (e.g. open windows).
o Follow directions on how to self-isolate on the Renfrew County and District Health
Unit website.
Engage in Social Distancing/Physical Distancing
For those not required to self-isolate remember:
• Keep away from seniors and people with chronic medical conditions (e.g. diabetes, lung
problems, immune deficiency).
• Always keep a distance of at least 2 metres (6 feet) from other people.
• Do not use public transportation, taxis or rideshares unless absolutely necessary.
The Township of Laurentian Valley advises everyone to follow the advice of our
Renfrew County and District Health Unit, Public Health Ontario and Public
Health Agency of Canada:
• Work from home if at all possible and do not frequent public places.
• Plan your grocery trips and use online ordering for delivery or pick-up as much as possible
and remember to ask others if you can pick up and drop groceries off for them at the same
time to limit the number of outings.
• Your health care provider or public health unit will tell you when it is safe to leave.
Wash Your Hands and Cover your Coughs and Sneezes
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze.
• Cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not your hand.
• Throw used tissues in a lined wastebasket, and wash your hands. Lining the wastebasket with a
plastic bag makes waste disposal easier and safer.
After emptying the wastebasket wash your hands.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds.
• Dry your hands with a paper towel, or with your own cloth towel that no one else shares.
• Use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available.
Monitor Your Health
• Monitor your health for fever, cough or difficulty breathing.
• If you have questions, or if you experience any symptoms of COVID-19, contact your health care
provider, Telehealth 1-866-797-0000 or Renfrew County and District Health Unit (RCDHU) at
613-735-8654. *Please note: RCDHU staff are only responding to COVID-19 inquiries via
telephone, 7-days a week, 8:00am – 7:00pm.
