FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 8, 2019
Come and enjoy a family fun event, Stafford Park - Party in the Park, on Saturday, July 20th, 2019 from 9am – 5pm. The yearly event has a little something for everyone to enjoy including a vendor show, RY J’s Adventures bouncy castle, a BBQ lunch, euchre tournament, fire department meet and greet as well as the grand opening of the Stafford Park splash pad.
The event will kick off with a ceremonial grand opening of the splash pad at 10:00 am. The splash pad is thanks to a $148,000 Ontario Trillium Foundation grant that was awarded to the Township in early 2019. The family friendly splash pad features 16 spray features covering a 2187 sq. ft. area and includes accessible age-progressive play areas throughout the site that spaced out in a manner that will allow for greater safety and easier supervision.
The judging of the 3rd Annual Junior Gardeners Competition will follow, a competition that is open to all children who reside in and outside the Township. Youth ages 16 years of age or younger, put their green thumbs into action by trying to grow a plant over the course of a month. A big thank you to Sunset Nursery, in particular Ross Hugli, who has generously donated the plants and Alistar Hugli, who will be a judge in the competition.
The rest of the afternoon is to enjoy the attractions and festivities. The Laurentian Valley Township Stafford Committee Volunteers will be on site barbecuing with proceeds being invested back into the park. “I am excited about the new addition of the Splash Pad at Stafford Park and look forward to seeing it being used by children and bringing new kids out to the park” says Stafford Park Committee Chairperson, Tim Sutcliffe. Stafford Park is located in Laurentian Valley at 341 Third Ave South.
