June 30 - Laurentian Hills Man Charged After Incident on Plant Rd in Chalk River

LAURENTIAN HILLS MAN CHARGED AFTER INCIDENT ON PLANT ROAD IN CHALK RIVER

(LAURENTIAN HILLS, ON) – On the morning of June 30, 2017 at approximately 740am members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a man with a weapon interfering with traffic on Plant Road in Laurentian Hills. With the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) and OPP Canine unit, officers attended and arrested the man without incident.

As a result 51 year old James Austin TURCOTTE of Laurentian Hills is charged with following Criminal Code (CC) offences:

• Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose

• Mischief – 2 counts

• Fail to Comply with Probation – 3 counts

He was held for a bail hearing on the afternoon of June 30, 2017 and he remains in custody until his next court appearance on July 4, 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice in the City of Pembroke.
