OPP RIDE CHECK RESULTS IN DRIVER BEING CHARGED WITH OVER 80MGS
 
(PEMBROKE, ON) – On the evening of Friday January 19, 2018 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) initiated a R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) checkpoint in the City of Pembroke.  The driver of a motor vehicle was found to be under the influence of alcohol and as a result 49 year-old Scott Iverson HARRIS of Whitewater Region Township was arrested and charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offence:
  • Driving with more than 80 mgs of alcohol in his blood
His driver’s licence was suspended for 90 days and his vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days.  He was also charged under the Liquor Licence Act (LLA) and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) for driving a motor vehicle with an open container of liquor and driving a motor vehicle with no currently validated permit.  He was served with Provincial Offence Notices (PON) for the LLA and HTA charges.
 
He was released on a promise to appear on the CC charge and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 13, 2018.
