Jan 23 - OPP Arrest Shoplifter After Footchase

(LAURENTIAN VALLEY TWP, ON) – On the afternoon of January 22, 2018 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shoplifting complaint from Walmart in Laurentian Valley Township.  Staff reported that a male suspect stole personal accessories and electronics before leaving the scene in a minivan.  Descriptors of both the suspect and vehicle were provided to police and officers quickly located the suspect vehicle parked at a nearby Sport Chek in Laurentian Valley Township.  The same male suspect was observed exiting Sport Chek with stolen outer wear.  The suspect fled on foot and was arrested by police after a short foot chase.
As a result of this incident Cory Grant Albert LAPIERRE, aged 30 of Pembroke, is facing the following Criminal Code (CC) charges:
  • Theft under $5000  – four counts
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000 – four counts
  • Fail to comply with probation – one count          
  • Resist peace officer - one count
A female passenger in the minivan was also arrested after being found in breach of a court order.  As a result Natalie Anne WALSH, age 31 of Pembroke, is facing the following CC charges:
  • Fail to comply with recognizance – two counts
Both subjects were held for bail hearings on January 23, 2018 at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke.
