UPDATE: CRIME STOPPERS CRIME OF THE WEEK
Shoplifter Arrested – Guitar Recovered
 
(PEMBROKE, ON) – At approximately 4pm on December 8, 2018 members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a shoplifting incident after a man stole an acoustic guitar from Bob’s Music in downtown Pembroke.  The suspect fled on foot and was briefly followed by customers until he brandished a weapon.
Police identified a suspect and the male was arrested in the early morning hours of December 30, 2018 after being located on foot in Pembroke.  As a result of this incident 22-year-old Benjamin Dalton LECLAIRE of Pembroke has been charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:
  • Theft under $5000
  • Assault with a weapon
He was held for a bail hearing and remains in custody until his next court appearance on January 2, 2019 at the Ontario Court of Justice.  The stolen guitar has been recovered and the OPP would like to thank members of the public for their assistance with this investigation.
