Jan 11 - OPP Quickly Make Arrest After Vehicle Reported Stolen

OPP QUICKLY MAKE ARREST AFTER VEHICLE REPORTED STOLEN
Vehicle recovered, suspect remains in custody
 
(PEMBROKE, ON) – On January 10, 2018 at just after 640am officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pickup truck that had just been stolen from the parking lot of the Holiday Inn on International Drive in the City of Pembroke.  The vehicle was running and had been left unattended at the time of the theft.  Within minutes of stealing the vehicle the suspect returned the vehicle to the hotel parking lot and was subsequently arrested by police.      
 
As a result 27-year-old Michael Robert Jerry DEVANEY of Laurentian Hills is charged with the following Criminal Code (CC) offences:
  • Possession of property obtained by crime over $5000
  • Theft of a motor vehicle
  • Fail to Appear – Court
  • Fail to Appear – Identification of Criminal Acts
 
He also faces outstanding charges of driving while ability impaired by drugs and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle stemming from a motor vehicle collision on December 3, 2017 in Laurentian Hills.
 
He was held for a bail hearing on January 10, 2018 and remains in custody until his next scheduled appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 17, 2018.
