UPPER OTTAWA VALLEY OPP FESTIVE R.I.D.E. PROGRAM – WEEK TWO RESULTS
 
 
(PEMBROKE, ON) – The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) 2017 Festive R.I.D.E. (Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere) campaign commenced on November 24, 2017 and will run until January 02, 2018.  During the second week of the campaign from December 01 to December 07, 2017 officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the OPP conducted 45 RIDE checks throughout the detachment area.  As a result of a roadside test one driver was issued a 3-day license suspension.  No impaired driving or over 80mg charges were reported as a result of the RIDE campaign.
 
Criminal Code (CC) driving charges were laid after the OPP investigated a two vehicle collision that occurred on December 03, 2017 at approximately 230pm on Highway 17 in Laurentian Hills.  No injuries were reported. One of the involved drivers was found to be under the influence of drugs.  As a result 27-year-old Michael Robert Jerry DEVANEY of Laurentian Hills was arrested and charged with the following CC offences:
  • Driving while ability impaired – drug
  • Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
 
He was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on January 09, 2018.
