DOMESTIC DISPUTE INVESTIGATION LEADS TO CHARGES
 
(PETAWAWA, ON) – On December 8, 2018 at approximately 3am officers from the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a domestic dispute at a residence in the Town of Petawawa.  The male suspect had left the scene after pointing a firearm at the female victim and assaulting her.  The suspect also damaged property belonging to her.  The victim sustained minor injuries. 
 
Police located and arrested the 31-year-old male suspect on December 9, 2018.  As a result of the investigation he faces the following Criminal Code (CC) charges:
 
  • Pointing a firearm
  • Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • Assault
  • Overcome resistance by attempting to choke, suffocate or strangle another person
  • Mischief under $5000
 
The accused was held for a bail hearing and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on December 10, 2018.  The name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
