Executive meetings are held the first Monday of each month, all interested community members are welcome.

Seniors meet the first Thursday of the month (excluding July, August and December).

Organized soccer for children 3-14 is held each summer. All children from the area are welcome.

Organized sponge puck hockey for children 5-16 is held each winter. All children from the area are welcome.

Shady Nook also has a community hall which is available to the public;


As of Jan, 2015 the rental fees are as follows:

1. Hall Rental Fee with Bar (Bar closes at 1:00 a.m.)

  • Sunday thru Thursday - $150.00 + $20.50 hst                              $170.50
  • Fridays and Saturdays - $275.00 + $35.75 hst                              $310.75

2. Special Groups                   $75.00 + $9.75 hst                                  $56.50

(Schools, Churches, Disabled, Seniors, Charities)

3. Family Reunions (allows for full use of the facility)

  • All day -                      $300.00 + $39.00 hst                                 $339.00

4. Additional Fees

- Decorating (over 3 hours alloted max) $15.00 +

5. Ice Rink (main hall not included)       $50.00 + $6.50 hst               $56.50

*Depending on length of function and time of day, prices may vary and can change without notice. Prices will remain the same for signed contracts.

Kitchen Use

  • Cooking (oven use) - $50.00 per day
  • Food preparation (ie. use of kitchen area for sandwich preparation, etc.) - $25.00 per day
  • No charge for either storage of food (refrigeration) of foods prepared at home, or use of coffee percolator’s. 
  • Arrangements for hall rentals can be made with the Hall Convenor by calling the Community Centre at 613-732-0954.
  • The hall is licensed by the LLBO and has a capacity of 225 persons.
  • For events with a bar, alcohol will not be served after 1:00 am.
  • Tablecloths are not required but are the responsibility of the Lessee should they wish to have the tables covered.
  • Raffling of alcoholic beverages and gambling is not permitted.


  • Shady Nook offers a maintained outdoor regulation size rink (85’ x 200’) with natural ice surface. The rink is illuminated for night use.
  • Ice rentals are $50.00 per hour and include use of the dressing rooms, hockey nets and a resurfacing of the ice. Discounts are available for tournaments.
  •  Free use of the rink is permitted unless otherwise booked or closed for maintenance.
  • The outdoor rink has a concrete surface and is available for use in the summer for rollerblading, ball hockey, etc.
