Notice of Electronic Public Meeting - New Development Charge By-Law (September 1, 2020)

NOTICE OF ELECTRONIC PUBLIC MEETINGNEW DEVELOPMENT CHARGE BY-LAW
 
TAKE NOTICE that the Corporation of the Township of Laurentian Valley will hold an Electronic Public Meeting on Tuesday September 1st 2020, at 5:30 p.m., to consider a proposed new Development Charge By-law for the Township of Laurentian Valley.
 
The provisions of the Development Charges Act require that the Development Charge By-law be reviewed at least every five years.  As required by the Act, a Background Study has been completed by Jp2g Consultants Inc. on behalf of the Township to support the new By-law.  The By-law and Notice are being prepared in accordance with the provisions of the Development Charges Act, 1997, c.D.9, as amended, and its Regulations.  ANY PERSON may participate in the public meeting and/or make written or verbal representation either in support of or in opposition to the proposed Development Charge By-law.
 
Pursuant to the requirements of Section 12.(1)(c) of the Development Charges Act, a copy of the By-law will be available for inspection no later than by Tuesday August 18, 2020 (at least two weeks prior to the meeting) by visiting the website at www.lvtownship.ca will be available for inspection where copies will be posted along with the background studies, if you do not  have access to the internet you can contact the Township Office during regular office hours at 613-735-6291. Additional information related to the Development Charge By-law including the supporting Development Charges Background Studies are available for viewing at anytime on the Township website or by contacting the Township Office during regular office hours at 613-735-6291, to arrange for a copy to be sent to you. THIS WILL BE AN ELECTRONIC PUBLIC MEETING WHERE THERE WILL BE NO PHYSICAL IN PERSON ATTENDANCE DUE TO COVID-19 MEASURES. THERE WILL BE OPPORTUNITIES PROVIDED TO WATCH/LISTEN TO THE MEETING LIVE AND PROVIDE INPUT ELECTRONICALLY. THERE ARE ALSO A VARIETY OF OTHER WAYS AS OUTLINED BELOW, THAT YOU CAN SUBMIT YOUR COMMENTS, CONCERNS OR SUPPORT FOR THE PROPOSED BY-LAW, PRIOR TO THE MEETING, SO THAT YOUR COMMENTS CAN BE CONSIDERED BY COUNCIL PRIOR TO A DECISION BEING MADE ON THE BY-LAW.
 
You are strongly encouraged to contact the Township by telephone or email if you have any questions prior to the Public Meeting. Physical attendance at the Township Office related to the By-law is discouraged as Staff can explain and review the proposed By-law and supporting information with you by telephone as the answers to some questions may also require input from the Consultant.  You can then either provide written comments by mail, fax or email to info@lvtownship.ca referencing “Development Charges” in the subject line, or verbal comments to Township Staff prior to the Public Meeting or during the Public Meeting.
 
While there will be opportunities for public input during the public meeting, to ensure that your comments are clearly understood and received prior to Council making a decision, you are also encouraged to submit comments ahead of time even if you intend to provide verbal comments at the electronic Public Meeting.  Instructions on how to connect to the electronic public meeting will be available closer to the Meeting date and you will also be able to find that information out by checking the Council Agenda for the September 1st, 2020 Council meeting on the Township website or by contacting the Township office at 613-735-6291 or at nsargent@lvtownship.ca requesting information on how to access the September 1st, 2020, Public Meeting. You are strongly encouraged to speak with Township staff prior to the meeting if you intend to provide verbal comments during the meeting. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to limit the spread of COVID-19.
