FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE                                                                    May 24, 2019

The Township would like to announce that Team Rubicon Canada is now operating in the Township of Laurentian Valley at the invitation of the Township to assist with recovery planning. Over the next week, Team Rubicon’s Rapid Damage Assessment teams will be working in areas identified by municipal planners as those that have been highly impacted by the recent floods. Homeowners—of both primary and seasonal residences—who have been impacted are encouraged to self-identify through the Request for Assistance form at the link below.

After receiving the requests, the information will be catalogued and reviewed to assist with having a more complete understanding of the impacts to help develop the Township’s strategy for moving forward with recovery. Please note, the request for assistance form is not a request for financial assistance but rather for the Township to have an understanding of where assistance may be required with the clean-up phase of the process so that we may work with requests for help with other Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs).  Those primary residents and tenants in need of financial assistance will still need to work through the Red Cross for some assistance to cover immediate needs, and through the Disaster Recovery Assistance for Ontarians Program (DRAO) or any individual insurance coverage.  Links to this information can also be found on the Township website.

To complete the Request for Assistance form click on the following link:

While residents are strongly encourage to complete the electronic request for assistance form through the link indicated above, for those that do not have access to the internet, contact the Township office for assistance with the link.

Team Rubicon Canada is a volunteer-based charity that unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams to disaster-affected communities. To learn more about who Team Rubicon Canada is you can visit their website at:
