Woodstoves, Fireplaces and Chimneys

New installations of solid fuel appliances and allied chimneys require Building Permits and inspections. If you have an existing appliance or chimney that you would like inspected please contact the Tri-Township Fire Department at 735-1358, leave a message, they will contact you.

Constructing Decks and Porches

The information supplied here is of a general nature, some properties have restrictions that are unique to that site, if you have any questions, please call for specific information.

Constructing Garages and Sheds

There are application packages available at the municipal office, the package contains the application form and the information contained here. We try to make it as easy as possible for you to obtain a permit for accessory buildings but there is certain information that is required. Incomplete applications merely slow down the process of obtaining the permit.

Completing the Building Application

The person who has designed the building should complete this schedule, if you have any questions refer to Division C, Part 3, Section 3.2 of the Ontario Building Code. (1) This Section prescribes, for the purposes of Clause 8(2) (c) and subsection 15.11(5) of the Act, the qualifications for a person who carries out design activities after December 31, 2005.

Building Houses

The following information is required when applying for a Building Permit to construct a new home

  • Application on Township Forms (with all applicable information supplied and form signed)
  • Plot Plan -On application or attached
  • Structural drawings, showing at minimum all dimensions, spans, size and type of materials to be used.
