Media Advisory - Algonquin Trail Survey

From: Terry Lapierre, Chief Administrative Officer, City of Pembroke & Dean Sauriol, Chief Administrative Officer, Township of Laurentian Valley

Date: June 5, 2019

The City of Pembroke and Township of Laurentian Valley are collaborating on a survey for residents and businesses regarding the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail. This trail is the former CP rail running near Pembroke’s waterfront.

The two municipalities have launched a joint survey to gain a deeper understanding of the preferences of their residents and businesses as they relate to the Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail. The survey is being done jointly to pool resources and save costs, and when complete municipal results will be separated.

We invite businesses and residents to share their personal opinions on the trail. The survey will be open online and available through both municipal websites from June 5, 2019 – June 25, 2019. We ask that individuals fill out the survey once with their opinions. Hard copies of the survey will also be available at Pembroke City Hall, the Pembroke Memorial Centre, the Pembroke Public Library, and Laurentian Valley Municipal Office. Please note that individual responses will be kept confidential.

The Ottawa Valley Recreation Trail is a 269km recreation trail running from Smiths Falls to Mattawa, crossing through Renfrew and Lanark County. This is a separate trail from the existing CN trail that is already leased to recreational clubs.

The survey can be found here: http://bit.ly/OVRecTrailSurvey.
